About

At the NPM Lead Lab, North Point will share best practices (and pitfalls too) from our twenty years in ministry. 50% of our new attendees tell us they have little or no church association. At this year's Lead Lab, we'll dive into what's worked as we've reached and engaged the unchurched. Gather your staff teams, your colleagues, and your volunteers for two days of content and conversation around this important topic.

Join us Sunday afternoon for our 4:30 p.m. service to see some of the practices we’ll talk about in action—or to just sit back and enjoy a service free from your usual Sunday responsibilities. Then we’ll have dinner and begin with a session you won’t want to miss, as Tim Cooper shares some of the insights that have most powerfully influenced our strategy for engaging the unchurched.

We’ll continue on Monday with three more teaching sessions and a chance to tour our environments or have extra discussion with NPM staffers. Plus you'll leave with a free evangelism ministry kit (a $106 value).

Session 1
Jesus set a clear example of how to maintain influence—especially with outsiders—while not compromising the truth. In this session, we’ll share some thoughts on managing the tensions created when we step out and engage our culture, plus share the one clarifying question that has shaped everything from our Sunday morning messages to the way we handle difficult conversations both inside and outside our walls.

Session 2
If the church is supposed to be a place that attracts people who are far from God, we have to give those people a safe and easy first step toward having meaningful conversations about faith. In this session, we’ll introduce you to principles that will help you create compelling next steps for the unchurched, plus give you a tool for identifying the changes your church can make right away.

Session 3
We believe that much of what makes the average church so resistible are the very things the church must resist. In this session, you’ll get an actionable checklist of questions to be sure your church is attracting outsiders and energizing insiders, and you’ll hear about the one goal at the center of the target for us each Sunday.

Session 4
Hear from key NPM staffers who lead the ministries that are trying to attract and engage—both in-person and online—the unchurched folks in our community. We’ll share some of the ways we cast vision for the volunteers on the frontline, and will answer your questions about managing the tensions that come with being a church for the unchurched.

"I have been to many conferences in the past but this leadership lab is by far the most beneficial and practical for our ministry and personal leadership.”  ~San Francisco Lead Lab Attendee
“I left feeling that I had a lot of valuable information to think through and also share with others. I have thought about the things that I learned often.”  ~Austin Lead Lab Attendee

SESSION 1: on engaging culture presented by Tim Cooper
6:00 p.m.
About this Session

We live in a culture. We want to engage it. How do we do so and keep our beliefs and reputations intact? How can we have influence with unchurched people without compromising relationships or our positions in the church? In this session, we’ll share some thoughts on managing the tensions created when we step out and engage our culture.

More about Tim Cooper

Tim Cooper has a passion for meeting unchurched people where they are and helping them find a growing relationship with Jesus. For five years, Tim was the Director of Starting Point at North Point Community Church, where he helped create environments for dynamic conversations about life and faith. Tim also led the Leader Training and Resources team for North Point Ministries, where he worked to develop and equip volunteer Community Group leaders so they could encourage others toward life-change. Currently he serves as the Director of Adult Ministry Environments at Browns Bridge Church where his strategic leadership, mentoring and staff development skills continually work to help build community through our adult ministry--like Women's and Men's groups, and Married and Singles groups.  He is also the NPM Director of Starting Point, contributing to the direction of the ministry across all six of North Point’s Atlanta-area churches as well as churches all over the world.
